Some clothing carries more than a brand label. It carries a place, a moment, a name. At Rules of Golf, our Tournament & Competition Wear collection brings together vintage golf clothing connected to the events, courses and competitions that have produced some of the game's greatest moments.

Clothing from golf's greatest stages

The Masters. The Open. The US Open. The Ryder Cup. Different competitions, different traditions, but all part of the calendar that has shaped generations of golf.

Tournament clothing has a character of its own. A Championship year embroidered on the chest, a host-course crest, a Ryder Cup team mark or the colours associated with a particular event can place a piece much more precisely in the story of the game.

We look for the pieces that best capture those moments: windbreakers made for exposed links courses, tournament polos, heavier knits, teamwear and course pieces with the embroidery, stitching and construction that make vintage worth bringing back.

The Major Championships

The Masters, The Open and the US Open each have their own visual language. Masters pieces carry the unmistakable greens, yellows and Augusta references associated with the week. Open Championship clothing often reflects the practical demands of links golf, particularly in the outerwear. US Open pieces bring their own tournament marks, dates and host-course identity.

The Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup is different again. Team colours, national and continental identity, host venues and competition branding all become part of the clothes. It is one of the few weeks in golf where what players and supporters wear feels inseparable from the event itself.

The Courses

St Andrews. Pebble Beach. Augusta. TPC Sawgrass. Some of the most recognisable addresses in golf.

Course clothing can be just as interesting as tournament merchandise. A strong piece connects the design of the garment to a specific place in the game, whether that is through embroidery, a course crest, an event date or the manufacturer behind it.

And these pieces do not need to stay in the clubhouse. A tournament windbreaker can work over a plain tee or polo with modern trousers or denim, while an older knit or course sweatshirt can be worn exactly as you would any other good piece of vintage sportswear.
