Vintage Golf Jumpers & Sweatshirts

Golf knitwear and casual wear has always moved between the course and the clubhouse. Traditional V-necks, patterned sweaters and cardigans sit alongside 1990s crew-neck sweatshirts, reversible pullovers, quarter-zips and fleeces. The result is a category that can feel unmistakably vintage without needing to be worn as a full period outfit.

This collection includes jumpers and sweatshirts from Nike Golf, PING, adidas, Callaway, Greg Norman, Reebok, Titleist, Mizuno, Glenmuir and other golf and knitwear names. Some pieces are understated and built around a small chest logo. Others use cable knit, contrast panels, tournament crests or the strong colour combinations associated with late twentieth-century golf.

From traditional golf knitwear to 1990s sportswear

The knitted V-neck remains one of golf's defining layers, designed to sit neatly over a collared polo without restricting the swing. Cardigans and patterned knits evoke the style associated with players such as Seve Ballesteros, while later crew necks, fleeces and quarter-zips reflect the sport's shift towards performance-led layering.

Vintage PING jumpers are particularly strong for Pingman details and clean golf cuts. Nike Golf knitwear and sweatshirts range from simple Swoosh pieces to reversible midlayers and garments connected to the wider Tiger era. adidas, Greg Norman and Reebok bring bolder colour, pattern and sportswear influence, while tournament and course embroidery can give an otherwise simple jumper a clear sense of place.

What materials should you expect?

Vintage golf jumpers may be made from lambswool, merino, cotton, acrylic, fleece or mixed fibres. Natural fibre does not automatically mean better, and synthetic fabric does not automatically mean lower quality. The right choice depends on how you plan to wear it: a fine wool V-neck works over a polo, while a fleece or cotton sweatshirt is often easier as an everyday layer.

How do vintage golf jumpers fit?

Older golf knitwear often has a wider body, shorter ribbed hem or fuller sleeve than a current slim jumper. Sweatshirts and fleeces can be deliberately roomy. We provide the actual chest width and length for each item and recommend comparing them with a layer you already wear.

Style old with new

The strongest pieces are selected for more than a logo. We look at the weight of the knit or fleece, the shape through the body, stitch detail, colour and how easily the layer can be worn with current clothing.

A vintage golf jumper does not need matching trousers and shoes from the same decade. Wear a patterned knit with modern denim, a quarter-zip over a plain T-shirt, or a relaxed crew neck under one of our vintage golf jackets.
